👉️ View the latest report, created for the Wagtail 6.3 Long Term Support release: Wagtail Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR). This report sees improvements across all criteria, with "Web" conformance for 70 criteria, documentation conformance for 63, and CMS conformance for 49.

What the report is for

The ACR provides a detailed summary of how Wagtail aligns with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. It covers accessibility of the CMS, sites built with Wagtail, and project documentation. It’s based on ongoing audits and testing from our accessibility team, such as the wagtail.org audit by Shakhrizoda Yusupova.

Providing the findings from our testing in a standardized format is a great way to be transparent about where we’re at in Wagtail’s accessibility journey, in particular for site implementers considering Wagtail and wanting to understand any likely issues their users might face.

How we create those reports

As of 2023, the Wagtail accessibility team provides those overviews in this "Accessibility Conformance Report" standardized format. This is the same document as a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT®), which is often used for procurement, particularly in the USA for organizations looking to meet Section 508 standards.

We create the reports thanks to OpenACR, a project by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) that has made it drastically easier to create and maintain reports collaboratively.

We need feedback

It’s still early days for Wagtail to be providing those reports! If there is any way in which they could be more helpful to you, feel free to reach out to our accessibility team to provide your feedback - or use our dedicated feedback thread in GitHub.
