Wagtail user testers wanted!

Calling all Wagtail editors, moderators or administrators, we’re looking for people to help user-test new features and improvements to Wagtail!

User testing is like putting glasses on, it helps you to see your product more clearly

We're proud of the Wagtail user experience but there’s much more we want to do - especially with the rate of development that we expect over the next 12 months. So, we are rebuilding our list of Wagtail user testers to ensure that we have an engaged, up-to-date list of volunteers.

What would I be committing to?

Nothing at this stage. We’ll let you know when we need to run a test and if you can help, great. We need enough people on the list tobe able to quickly convene a testing group when we need one. And, even if you participate in every test, it wouldn’t amount to more than an hour or two a month. For most people, it’d only be an hour every couple of months or so.

What’s involved in the testing?

Testing will normally be remote moderated testing, where a user researcher sets up a Zoom call with you, briefs you about a task in the Wagtail backend and watches you try out the task via screen sharing. There may be some variants e.g. quick 5-10 minute remote, unmoderated tests.

Are you wanting opinions?

Testing is primarily about watching a user try to use a feature rather than discussing design decisions. However, in the case of moderated tests, there will normally be an opportunity to discuss the features after the tests - if you want to.

If you are interested in joining the testing group please fill in this short form.
