Free talk ideas for Wagtail Space 2026

Wagtail Space will be blasting off again on 8-10 November. You have a chance to step into the spotlight and be a star in our conference lineup. Our Call for Proposals invites anyone, whether they are a developer or content creator, a freelancer or agency employee, a student or an ultra-experienced pro, to submit their idea for a Wagtail Space talk.

Unsure what you want to talk about? Here are some ideas and themes pulled straight from my brain that you can use to get your creativity going. You can even feed them to your favorite AI agent if you want to. Just remember that us organizers are keen to get proposals that are not about AI as well. We're aiming to have, at most, 50% of the talks focus on AI. You might actually have an advantage if you have a non-AI topic you're eager to talk about.

Publishing and business wins with Wagtail: Did you save money or time with Wagtail? Were you able to make your publishing processes better? Is your content team happier? Did you use Wagtail to solve a unique customization problem or software need? Share how you did it!

Publishing tips for editors: If you've optimized your Wagtail workflows and figured out some great shortcuts for publishing or managing content, show them off in a talk. Share your routines so other editors can learn from you.

Making the world better with Wagtail: Have you helped a mission-driven organization, like a nonprofit or government agency, use Wagtail to improve a service or increase their reach? These are the sorts of heartwarming stories we want to hear.

Python + Django + Wagtail: Even though Wagtail is built on top of Django and Python, not everyone knows how to use Python and Django's strengths to enhance a Wagtail project and vice versa. If you've got some deep language or framework knowledge that can help people build even better projects, please come share it with us.

Oops, we broke Wagtail: We don't just want your success stories. We want to hear about interesting failures and struggles as well. Tell us all about your innovative fixes.

AI workflows for Wagtail: Share your AI coding or content publishing experiments with us. Where has adding AI to Wagtail helped make things better? What didn't work for you?

Deployment, deployment, deployment: Everyone deploys Wagtail differently, which is both great and confusing for people who really just want one good way to do things. Give us your deployment hot takes at Wagtail Space.

What's happening with headless? If you've got a long-term headless Wagtail project, we're interested to hear how headless has worked out for you. Also, have AI tools made headless easier or harder?

If you're not a heavy Wagtail user or an active member of the community, don't self-select out! We'd love get relevant proposals from other open source communities and we're looking for some proposals on big picture themes as well. Themes like:

Creating content for humans and AI: Cloudflare has reported that bot traffic on the Internet has exceeded human traffic for the first time this year. Bring us your ideas for how people can use Wagtail to craft content that informs the AI agents visiting their websites as well as the human visitors.

How to pursue greener tech practices: With AI adding to the climate emissions burden, it's even more important to create tech practices that are sustainable. If you've got practical advice for making AI use or any other part of digital content publishing more efficient and sustainable, we want to hear from you.

Making a more inclusive Internet: Accessibility is a core value for the Wagtail community. We want to our attendees to get inspired by web accessibility success stories, and if you have experience creating exceptional accessibility experiences, come tell us about them.
