Wagtail Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT): WCAG 2.2 & Section 508
Our new Accessibility Conformance Report for Wagtail 7.4
👉️ View the latest report, created for the Wagtail 7.4 Long Term Support release: Wagtail Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR).
What the report is for
The ACR provides a detailed summary of how Wagtail aligns with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. It covers accessibility of the CMS, sites built with Wagtail, and project documentation. It’s based on past audits and ongoing testing from our accessibility contributors, such as the wagtail.org audit by Shakhrizoda Yusupova.
Providing the findings from our testing in a standardized format is a great way to be transparent about where we’re at in Wagtail’s accessibility journey, in particular for site implementers considering Wagtail and wanting to understand any likely issues their users might face.
How we create those reports
We create the reports thanks to OpenACR, a project by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) that has made it drastically easier to create and maintain reports collaboratively. It’s no longer actively maintained but the tool is still available and much better than alternatives!
This allows us to work with a standardized "Accessibility Conformance Report" format and tool suite. This is the same document as a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT®), which is often used for procurement, particularly in the USA for organizations looking to meet Section 508 standards.
Let us know what you think
We know those reports are essential for procurement, but we rarely hear from people reading them! If there is any way in which they could be more helpful to you, feel free to reach out to our accessibility team to provide your feedback - or use our dedicated feedback thread in GitHub. Perhaps you can also show us all how you procure projects at Wagtail Space 2026!
