Please steal these ideas for Wagtail Space 2025 talks
Fresh ideas you can pilfer for your Wagtail Space proposal

Wagtail Space will be broadcasting worldwide on 8-10 October on Zoom Events, and you (yes, you!) have a chance to be one of the stars of the show. Our Call for Proposals invites anyone, whether they are a developer or content creator, a freelancer or agency employee, a student or an ultra-experienced pro, to submit their idea for a Wagtail Space talk.
Perhaps your creativity is feeling a little tapped out right now. After all, there's a lot going on in the world right now. That's why I put together this list of ideas you can freely borrow and turn into your own.
Business wins with Wagtail: Did you save money with Wagtail? Were you able to make your content publishing better? Did you use Wagtail to solve a unique customization problem or software need? Tell us how you did it!
Tips for next-level editing: If you're an editor who has optimized your Wagtail workflow and figured out some great shortcuts for content publishing, show them off in a talk. You might think "well this is too simple," but there are loads of editors out there who will thank you if you share your routine with them.
Doing good with Wagtail: Have you helped a nonprofit or government or another group use Wagtail to improve a public service or increase their effectiveness? We want to hear your story.
Reusable Wagtail components: Have you created some interesting reusable combinations of pages, snippets, and blocks that have worked well for you? This topic could be great one either for an editor or a developer to demonstrate the ways they improved their publishing processes with reusable components and code.
Data science + Wagtail: Python is the preferred language for many data scientists. If you have innovative ways for combining data science operations with Wagtail, there are many data scientists out there who would like to hear about your ideas.
Deployment, deployment, deployment: Everyone deploys Wagtail differently, which is both great and confusing for people who really want to follow best practices. If you have a hot take on the best ways to deploy, come give it at Wagtail Space.
Django for Wagtailers: Even though Wagtail is built on top of Django, it's not always clear when it's better to use Wagtail or Django for building a feature. If you're a Django wizard who can help make these decisions easier, then we have a bunch of developers and project managers who'd love to hear from you.
Wagtail chaos engineering: Have you broken Wagtail in interesting ways? If you did, come show us how you managed it and show us the fix or workaround you created. If you have multiple lessons learned the hard way, you might just have a talk on your hands.
If you're not a heavy Wagtail user or an active member of the community, don't rule yourself out just yet! We're also considering proposals from some big-picture themes that our audience would find helpful and inspiring. Here are some ideas related to those themes:
Publishing in a world with AI: Publishers are feeling excitement and anxiety over the possibilities that AI presents. There's excitement about new possibilities for more efficient content creation, maintenance, and marketing. Yet there's also anxiety about how to stand out and compete in Internet publishing while operating ethically and treating artists humanely. If you have recommendations on how publishers can can face the coming AI storm, please come tell us about them.
Pursuing greener tech practices: Reducing carbon emissions is one of the most pressing and paramount challenges of our time. If you have practical methods and recommendations for how publishers can produce and manage content more sustainably, then Wagtail Space would be a great place to share them.
Building a more joyful and accessible Internet: Accessibility is a core part of Wagtail and the Wagtail community. Because more and more countries are legally enforcing web accessibility, more web projects are starting to do the bare minimum to make their websites accessible. But how do you go beyond the bare minimum and make accessible web experiences that are seamless and joyful to use? If you have experience creating exceptional accessibility experiences, we'd love to hear from you.
